October 29 – Introduction to Hazard Trees

Jim Flott

Trees are hazardous when the failure of one or more of their parts results in property damage and/or personal injury. All trees have the potential to fail, but only a relatively few actually do. This workshop will concentrate on trees growing in urban areas, recognizing the unique combinations of species and site character found in cities.

November 5 – Relationship of Tree and Soil

Eric Choker

Tree and soil relationships are important to understand in order to maintain tree health. The topics for the class will be Water movement in soils, Soil Compaction and Remediation.

November 19 – Introduction to Tree Appraisal

Jim Flott

Plant valuations are not limited to casualty situations but can include appraisals for tree inventories, real estate transactions, plant condemnation actions and insurance purposes. We will discuss the Cost Approach, the Income Approach, and the Market Approach for assigning a value to trees.
